The Jewish synagogue in Pitigliano dates to 1598 when Jews left Rome and went across the "border" and were accepted in Pitigliano. The town is known as "Little Jerusalem" because town members hid Jews during WW II. Pitigliano is in the Maremma area of Tuscany, Italy.
