The sun sets over Shwedagon Paya (holy monument), one of Burma's (Myanmar's) most holy Buddhist temples. The main stupa (zedi) supposedly features 53 tonnes of gold leaf and a spire encrusted with over 5,000 diamonds and 2,000 other precious stones. Mighty rich for a Buddhist temple. Waiting for the circular train around Rangoon, Burma (Yangon, Myanmar)...The train costs $1 for foreign tourists and takes around 3-4 hours. It's certainly not fast, but it's a terrific way to get a good feel for the surrounding villages and markets of Rangoon. Highly recommended.
