While waiting for the bus in Lanzhou, we dropped in at a friendly-looking restaurant without a stroke of English on its menu. We just pointed to "We are vegetarians" in our phrase book and this is what they brought us. A light dish of cabbage, mushrooms and other veg bits, it was surprisingly tasty.
