Built in 1127, the Kalon Minaret was an amazing feat in architecture and building. Even Jenghiz Khan was amazed by it and ordered it spared as he razed the rest of the city. Mir-i-Arab Medressa (left) is an active seminary; unfortunately, tourists are not allowed to visit.
