El Carmen ruins in Antigua, Guatemala looks almost Roman in nature with its columns. Reminds us a bit of Ephesus in Turkey. The reason why Antigua is full of 16th and 17th century ruins is that an earthquake in 1773 destroyed the city, leaving churches and buildings in ruined form for people to enjoy centuries later.
