After crossing the Thorong La pass, we had a steep 1,600 meter descent through dry terrain to the village of Muktinath. The way down turned out even more difficult than the way up! Almost all food found on the western side of the Annapurna Circuit in Nepal (with the exception of locally grown wheat, rice and vegetables) comes up the trail on the backs of mules and men.
