The leaders of the Self-Help Groups in Gairkata (West Bengal, India) showed us their careful ledgers that accounted for attendance at monthly meetings, membership dues, microloan dispersals and microloan repayment. Several of the women were illiterate several years ago but were able to educate themselves through programs offered through the SHG. Impressive. © www.uncorneredmarket.com
