Impromptu sorghum pod sorting with a local family in the Chobe Enclave, Botswana. To understand Botswana, its local culture and food, one must encounter sorghum, the local staple. Seeds are beaten from stalks, sorted, then wind-sifted with traditional woven baskets to remove impurities and dust. Porridge (to be served alongside beef, bean leaves and sour yogurt) and local beer, are made from it. Another #ThisIsChobe experience. via Instagram http://ift.tt/1taawr1
One frame (of many) from our 17-lion morning game drive in Chobe National Park, Botswana. The morning drive, already magnificent, was about to end when an opportunity to track a pride of 12 lions (earlier, we'd followed a lioness and her 4 cubs) emerged. Lynn, one of the team of @chobegamelodge all-female guides, has been remarkable and easy-going, particularly as she navigates a whisper quiet fully-electric game drive land cruiser. By the way, you have a chance to win this trip flights by joining us today (Thursday) on the #ThisIsChobe Twitter chat (12:00/19:00 Botswana/Central Europe) or 1:00PM EDT. Alternatively, visit the @ThisIsChobe FB page and post an entry there by 2:00PM EDT. via Instagram http://ift.tt/1tjAg54
Giraffes crossing paths. 2 of about 100 we'd seen on the course of an afternoon game drive. We've been absolutely blown away by the experience in Chobe National Park -- most of all by a feeling and an atmosphere that photos simply cannot do justice. #ThisIsChobe Next five days, we are headed offline, for a bit of disconnect and digital detox, to absorb the impressions from the last 4 days. Destinations include: Camp Xakanaxa, Moremi National Park; Camp Okavango Okavango Delta and Leroo La Tau, Makgadikgadi Pans National Park. via Instagram http://ift.tt/1tm9OYq
